The very first novel I remember reading was “Ghost Knight”. It was a winter day and as I sat on the recliner with my hot chocolate beside me, I flipped through the pages of the book and began to read. I genuinely enjoyed the story even though I didn’t finish it that day. It had managed to capture me completely and within the next day, I was back to reading the next chapter. I had a ritual, where every day I would sit down in the living room and read a chapter, that daily reading branched off into an extreme love for novels. Even years later I’m still reading books like the bookworm that I am. I read more and more novels daily. Because admittedly I’m addicted to the thrill and excitement I experienced while reading my first novel. I wanted to name my collection of works “Winter’s Day Stories” because it brings up the fond memory of the day that I started down the path to becoming a prolific writer.

I think many parents will agree when I say that books are one of the best gifts you can give your child. I know we live in a world of gadgets and things, but I believe that a good old fashion book is sometimes better than a nook, "I made a rhyme!"All jokes aside, I am not saying that an e-book reader does not have its uses. It is a wonderful thing, esp. when you have to go on a long trip, you can literally carry thousands of books without breaking a sweat. It is nice to have so many books for you to read at any time, even if you are going on a long trip, it is good to take your e-reader, but the amount of reading you do should not be limited to your battery life. I know you can go for hours and it is the newest thing, but there are times when the older is better. I love holding a book in my hand and reading to my son at night, flipping the page and not having to worry if the screen will be damaged.
When Ethan was seven he had already dropped and broken two tablets. Now, he can drop his paperback or hardback book and not see the front cover shatter into many pieces. I love that I do not have to monitor what he is reading in the book that "I" selected for him (It's not like he can start playing Zombie Tsunami or watching Netflix in a book). When it comes to children who are young that might drop and break it, I think a regular book will be fine. When the child is older and more responsible you can determine it will be appropriate for them. Ethan's Book is available in paperback and e-book.

"An imagination is not just rainbows, dragons and mystical creatures all packed neatly under your bed or monsters, goblins, and other creatures hiding away in your closet. For a child, it goes much deeper than that. It is the elementary block on which the foundations of their faith are made. It is something so precious it must be nurtured and cultivated for them to grow into the young men and women they were meant to be." It is said, "A mind is a terrible thing to waste." I say, "An imagination is a terrible thing to waste." Being preoccupied with growing up interrupts the development of your child's imagination. They too can believe in themselves and great things will happen. Even if you can't see how the mess of blocks in front of you is a great city, imagine it with them. They may grow up to be great architects. The way we embrace or reject our child's imagination determines how they see themselves.
We only have our children for a little while, and it is our responsibility as parents to make sure they are equipped with the things they need to grow in life. A child having a great imagination is a lot like an adult having great faith. Most people can't see it, and some will even call you crazy for it, but as long as you can see the vision for yourself, the vision will come to pass. Faith, hard work, dedication, and determination do pay off.
So to answer my question, imaginations are very important. It has the ability to frame and re-frame the world you live in. If we can master this simple thing, we can change the world.
